Football Legend Maradona Supports Morocco’s MMA Fighter Ottman Azaitar

Legendary Argentinian footballer Diego Maradona may possibly be attending Brave 2: Dynasty event in Bahrain to support Moroccan fighter Ottman Azaitar.

Azaitar has recently signed with the Bahraini promotion as announced last week on ArabsMMA.com. The Moroccan will be fighting on the December card, with an opponent yet to be announced.

In this video posted on social media, Maradona appears alongside Abu Bakr Azaitar, Ottman’s elder brother. The two have met on Saturday ahead of the Green March Anniversary gala match game in Laayoune city in Morocco. ‘The Green March was a strategic mass demonstration in November 1975, coordinated by the Moroccan government, to force Spain to hand over the disputed province of Sahara to Morocco.

In fact, Diego Maradona who currently resides in the UAE has expressed his passion for martial arts on several occasions. The Argentinian had previously attended the first installment of Dubai-based martial arts promotion GFC (Global Fighting Championhip) in which the Moroccan Badr Hari was crowned champion, walking away with 1 Million AED. Badr Hari was thrilled to have Maradona himself express his appreciation.

Hari said:

“This was a great evening, while I was preparing backstage for my fight in Dubai Diego Maradona came into my dressing room too let me know that he is my biggest fan!! Much respect!!”

Maradona’s presence in Bahrain amongst the Brave 2 fans will add nothing but more excitement to the much anticipated event. Stay tuned to ArabsMMA.com as we bring you more news on Brave 2: Dynasty.
